Matthew De Abaitua

Matthew De Abaitua, the blistering mind behind The Red Men novel from which Dr. Easy is adapted, has a blog:

Matthew is currently revisiting The Red Men, to be be relaunched in the very near future. It's very interesting to see an author thoughtfully re-evaluate and criticise their own work with the benefit of time. He's posting some very interesting and honest thoughts on storytelling, language and on predicting the science of science-fiction. Vain Lucas-esque meddling it ain't.

We have written the first draft of The RedMen to be a feature. It's an interesting situation for us, to see the book be re-written after that process has begun. A similar feeling no doubt to how Matthew must feel upon reading our screenplay. Of course the two forms are very different from each other - they must be. Yet they are brothers. And now the elder brother has come back from University and has changed his hair.

Getting a film into production is a slow, testing, fickle process, not for quitters. Particularly when you are first time directors (I know, ridiculous isn't it). We're greatly indebted to Matthew's belief in us, and the unquestioning support of his agent Sarah Such.

Right, back to the coalface.
